Spencer Young:
Company C, Third Arkansas Infantry (Original Member)
Enlisted as a Private at Montecello, Arkansas, June, 1861 at the age 18.
Originally from Carroll County, Mississippi.
Occupation: Farmer.
Wounded in the right thigh at the Wilderness, May 6, 1864.
Wounded in the groin at Chafin's Farm, October 29, 1864.
According to family oral history also had the "lost the tip of his nose" in another battle during the war.
Retired to the Invalid Corps, Richmond, Virginia, November 18, 1864 and promoted to rank of "Ensign" (Lieutenant?).
Died October 17, 1924 and buried in Killeen, Texas.
