Kaspar Schmidt

A Blacksmith and German immigrant, 24 year old Schmidt enlisted as an original member in Company E at Champagnolle, Union County, Arkansas.

Schmidt served in that capacity with the Regiment for the whole duration of the War and was paroled at Appomattox Courthouse, VA on April 12, 1865.

Schmidt returned to Arkansas following the war and died in Union County in 1904. 
He is buried in the Schmidt family plot at Ebenezer Methodist Church Cemetery, between Calion and Old Union, Union County, Arkansas.
